I took an unusual path to get here.

After graduating with a degree in journalism, I entered the documentary TV industry – not your typical first step towards becoming a therapist. I worked on a number of shows about airplane crashes, cults, true crime, and even psychic detectives, who were less effective than you might guess.

As I met and interviewed countless people – from FBI agents, to cult survivors, to family and friends of the victims and perpetrators of unthinkable crimes -  I realized I had an innate ability to connect with them, to help them feel safe, seen, and heard as they shared their stories. I saw how being compassionate, non-judgmental, easy going, and asking good questions created space for people to tell their stories of pain and loss, but also of remarkable resilience.

I wanted to go further. I wanted to do more than tell stories. I wanted to help people heal.

This led me to psychotherapy.

I’ve been using those same skills over the past 12 years, working with people from all walks of life in community counselling agencies, primary health care settings, and post-secondary institutions. At every stop, I’ve worked with people who feel stuck, held back from living the life they want, but not always sure what’s in the way or what’s on the other side. Using an empathetic, collaborative, and down-to-earth approach, I’ve helped clients regain control of their lives, reclaiming a sense of agency after years of depression and anxiety calling the shots.

And after all this time, I am still constantly struck by the resilience, strength, and tools people already have to overcome their challenges. Day in and day out, it’s an honour to work to people like you, to help them uncover and reconnect with these strengths, skills, and values in order to move towards a better life. That’s what I’m passionate about.

And that’s what I’m offering you. Regardless of what you’re going through, I am committed to using that same curiosity and compassion to help you rewrite your story, and move towards your preferred future.

I took an unusual path to get here, but it’s been a good one.
And now I’m here to help you as you plot and navigate your own unique path towards a more fulfilling, and meaningful life.
